On Sunday, Evansville made the short trip to Orfordville for a
Home Talent Baseball League game. Evansville's team had a few new
faces on the bench this week as some of the college kids returned
home for the summer.
One of those players was Tim Legler, a pitcher on UW-Platteville's
team and a former Orfordville Home Talent player from last year.
Tim came in to relieve starter Nic Larson, who scattered 3 hits
while striking out 5 in six innings pitched. Larson also was Evansville's
first batter in the modern era to finish with multiple hits in a
game. He finished 2 for 2.
Evansville scored their only run in the top of the 9th inning.
Legler walked and advanced to second on a fielder's choice. Garrett
Lindemann drove in Legler with a solid base hit. Once again, the
team has improved over last week's performance, but still working
hard to get in the win column.
This week the Evansville Home Talent Team would like to recognize
their Gold sponsors: State Farm Insurance of Evansville and Brodhead,
Evansville Oil Pros, Bank of Evansville, VFW Post 6905, and Evansville
Pharmacy. Next week the Silver sponsors will be listed. A complete
list of sponsors is listed on the team's website at www.evansville.hometalent.org.
Evansville's next two games are on the road. The Thursday Night
League starts this week when Evansville will travel to Ridgeway
on May 19 starting at 7:30 pm. The next league game is Sunday, May
22 at Lake Mills starting at 1:00 pm. For the latest schedule and
results please visit the team's website.
