On Sunday, Evansville traveled to Lake Mills for a Southeast Section Home Talent Baseball game. Evansville again had a few more new players on the bench this week as more of the college kids returned home for the summer. A total of 17 players were on the line-up card for Sunday's game.

Starting pitcher Nic Larson had a strong performance in a losing effort. He struck out a season high 14 batters and only gave up 1 walk. Defensively, Evansville had their first game with out committing an error, a major step towards improving. Offensively, the team is still struggling getting runs across the plate. Evansville stranded a total of 10 runners on base, and left the bases loaded without scoring in the top of the first inning.

Evansville's first run was earned when Jon Frey hit a double, and then advanced to third on fielder's choice put-out. Jeremy Rasmussen batted Frey in with a base hit to left field.

Evansville's next run came in the top half of the fifth inning when Jasen Koebler hit a lead off single. A couple of batters later, Koebler scored from third when Lake Mills' shortstop tried to throw him out at the plate, but the throw was wide.

In the top of the eighth inning Evan Baumberger walked, and Wade Janes moved him to second with a base hit. Baumberger scored on Jon Frey's second double to score Evansville's third and final run of the game.

This week the Evansville Home Talent Team would like to recognize their Silver sponsors: Roger Roth CPA, Allen Realty, Allen Custom Flatwork, Caribbean Breeze Tanning Salon, Grobe & Associates CPAs, Main Street Signs, and Chesterfield Boarding Kennel. Next week the Bronze sponsors will be listed. A complete list of sponsors is listed on the team's website at www.evansville.hometalent.org.

Due to rain, last Thursday's game (at Ridgeway) was re-scheduled to June 7 starting at 7:30 pm. This week's Thursday Night League game is at Hollandale starting at 7:30 pm.

For the Memorial Day weekend Evansville will host two games. The first one will be on Sunday, May 29 against Utica and the second on Monday, May 30 against Albion. Both games will start at 1:00 pm at the Evansville High School field. For the latest schedule and results please visit the team's website.
