EVANSVILLE WINS, EVANSVILLE WINS

Evansville Home Talent Baseball Team had a great week. On Thursday, Evansville defeated Hollandale, 8 to 6, in Night League play, and on Sunday, beat Utica, 4 to 3. Both wins were a first for Evansville.

On Sunday, Ryan Lindemann led Evansville's offense by batting 3 for 4 with two doubles. Evansville out hit Utica 8 to 4. Jasen Koebler scored 3 times including the game winning in the bottom of the seventh. Starting pitcher Nic Larson managed to strike out 10 Utica batters even with a rain soaked ball, as it rain most of the game.

In the bottom of the seventh inning Jasen Koebler walked with 2 outs. Then the home plate umpire called for a rain delay. The rain had increased. When the game resumed, the umpires and both team managers agreed that the game would be shortened because of rain and field conditions. Next batter, Ryan Lindemann, hit a base hit through the infield which moved Koebler to second. Jason Schultz hit the game winning base hit to score Koebler and Evansville won their first league game 4 to 3.

As for last Thursday's game, Evansville leading hitters were Jason Schultz, who went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, and starting pitcher Wade Janes was 2 for 2. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning, relief pitcher, Ben Kraus, was able to get Hollandale to fly out to end the game.
