EVANSVILLE HOME TALENT LOSES ON FATHER'S DAY

On Sunday, Evansville (1-6) lost 5-1 to Oregon (2-5) in a Southeast Section Home Talent baseball game. Starting pitcher for Evansville, Josh Copeland, started strong by striking out the first two batters of the game with 6 straight strikes; however, the next four Oregon batters hit singles to score first in the game.

The Jays only run came in the bottom of the first inning when Brent Cashore stretched a single into a double by hustling out of the box. He was followed by Brookes Baumberger who hit a double in the gap.

Oregon scored in the third and eighth innings on solo-home runs, and scored twice on a bases loaded double in the seventh. Evansville had 10 hits for the game, but was not able to get timely hitting to score. Evansville stranded eight runners on base. The game was error free by both teams.

As for last Saturday's re-scheduled game against Whitewater, the game was canceled on Friday because Whitewater was not able to have enough players for the game. Evansville will likely receive a forfeit for the game.

This week Evansville will host a Thursday Night League game against Orfordville on June 21st at Leota Park starting at 7:30 pm. On Thursday, June 28th New Glarus will travel to town for a 7:30 pm game at Leota Park. Concessions will be available for both the games, so come to the park and have dinner watching a ball game. Try a grilled cheeseburger, brat or hot dog while supporting your community baseball team.

On Sunday, June 24th, Evansville will travel to Utica for a 1:00 pm game against Cambridge. For the latest schedule and results please visit the team's website at www.evansville.hometalent.org.

This week the Evansville Home Talent Team would like to recognize their Web sponsors: NAPA Auto Parts and RM Berg General Contractor, both of Evansville. Next week the Diamond sponsors will be listed. A complete list of sponsors is listed on the team's website at www.evansville.hometalent.org.

Evansville's Home Talent players (L to R), Jeremy Rasmussen, John Rasmussen (father) and Chad Rasmussen celebrated Father's Day together during Sunday's game. John played for Evansville Home Talent during the 1970s. All three had a hit in the game against Oregon. Read more about Home Talent Baseball in the nearby article with some upcoming home games.
